My name is Madison Smith! I am currently in my first year of the Bachelor of Education program at Thompson Rivers University. For the past 4 years I have attended Thompson Rivers University working on my Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in history. I was born and raised in the small town of Williams Lake, British Columbia. When I was 4 years old, my family moved out to the historic Alkali Lake Ranch where I spent the next 10 years of my childhood. I attended school at Mountview Elementary School where I developed a passion for learning new things. While at home on the ranch, there was always the opportunity to learn new things and teach others about things as well. From a young age, I have enjoyed horseback riding and spending time with family and in the outdoors. I have always had horses in my life that I have had to opportunity to ride and develop my skills upon their back. The outdoors provide me a sense of security and allows me to be myself. After I was done high school I moved to Kamloops, where I met my fiancé Austin. We now live on the 1200 acre Devick’s Ranch, just 20 minutes north of Kamloops. Recently, I spent my days working on my studies, riding horse, checking cows and play with my dog Hank. The ranch is located in an ideal location where I am in the midst of nature but not too far away from Kamloops or Sun Peaks where I like to spend a lot of my time skiing in the winter. Everyday I try to learn something new, whether that is from the back of my horse, my studies or the internet. I always try to allow myself to have wonders and the desire to find out about my wonders. Educating children has become a strong passion of mine and I can’t wait to become a teacher. Welcome to my journey, enjoy!
