As a future teacher, I refer to the Professional Standard for BC Educators often to know what will be expected of me when I am in my future classroom. These Standards communicate the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values that define educators’ work. They communicate our responsibilities as teachers un fostering public confidence and highlight the complex and varied nature of our work. Teachers response towards truth, reconciliation, and healing, acknowledging the history and contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Metis in Canada. This document becomes the lifeline of teachers and the education system as a whole to outline the ethics and principles of being a teacher. I have read this document many times and will continue to do so throughout my entire career.
