Code of Ethics

Rick Kienlien, the director of Instruction for SD73 came to class to discuss the code of ethics for teachers. It was very informative to hear the “dos and don’ts” of being a teacher. It was neat to be getting this chat from a possible future employer who just seemed like a regular guy. It put me at ease getting this information early on in the program.

After class, I went through my social media and sorted through pictures that may be portrayed incorrectly. Not that I had sensitive content, but I needed to clean up some pictures. Rick explained the importance of your professional image as a teacher. You aren’t only a teacher while in the classroom, you are also a teacher outside the classroom. Looking forward to my career, I can see myself working in a small community of some kind. Within a small community, I would more than likely be in the public eye a lot and would often come in contact with my students outside of my classroom. With that in mind, it is important to start creating a professional appearance in all aspects of my life.
