Teaching children has become one of my favourite things to do! This is a photo of me reading to children at the Sun Dance Kids Centre in Sun Peaks. The ages of these children vary and they come from all over the world. Whenever I get the chance, I love to hear about the lives of different children and connecting over a book is a great start for an awesome and informative conversation!
My first time being called Ms.Smith. This is a picture of my practicum partner and I with the class we were with in our very first practicum. This grade 5/6 class taught me so much and gave me a realistic view of what the day to day of teaching would look like.
Throughout the uncertain times of Covid19, I had the opportunity to homeschool a girl in grade 2 named Adelle. Her mother is a nurse and her father is a rancher. Since both parents were providing an essential service, I would spend each day with the 2 girls, one 7 years old (Adelle) and the other 3 years old (Payton). Every morning Adelle and I would sit in a quiet place and work on the school work that her teacher had put together for her. We would do math, language arts, home reading, some science and some social studies. I really enjoyed helping Adelle with her homework and being able to see what her teacher was doing during these unprecedented times.
Im so lucky that two of my greatest passions, horseback riding and teaching children, can combine. For years I have provided horseback riding lessons to children of all ages. I love being able to see the child progress with their horse and how tight their bond becomes. Nothing is better than a kid on a horse!
Since I was a little girl, I have had horses. These magnificent creatures have taught me so much and continue to be one of my best teachers.
